Somewhat of an obsession......

Okay, it's out in the open now. I, Jenni Toller, am in love with Edw--- I mean, the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I hope the movie does the book justice. It is looking promising.

Tennis

Let me start out by confessing that I am an extrememly UNathletic person! My family (as in my siblings and I) are all more musical and artsy... and not so athletically talented. I mean, we watch basketball and my dad and brothers are actually really into PLAYING basketball....... on the PS3. But other than that.... lets just say we get more into Food Network Challenges than we do the Superbowl..... Ok, ok... so maybe we are a little strange. But, hey. Not everyone is born with athletic talent. And, I for one, must have been absent on the day God handed out athletic abilities. Perhaps I was in line waiting to get some gourmet heaven food or something.....

Anyway, a couple weeks ago Steve decided he wanted to teach me
to play tennis. There is a big park up the street from us with tennis courts. We've now "played" three times and I actually kind of like it! I can't decide if I am actually better at this than most other sports I've attempted, or if it's just the fact that I am playing with someone else who also doesn't really know what he's doing..... but either way, I am actually enjoying it. I decided I don't like playing team sports.... because I am so horrible and end up ruining it for everyone else.

And I especially don't like playing team sports with people who:

1)are very good at the sport
2)are very competitive and/or
3)are wearing hot pink short shorts
Because:

1)I am very not good at sports, so it just accentuates my.... un...good...ness......
2)When people are competitve, they get really into it and yell.... and when people yell at me... I usually end up crying
3)I'm not sure why..... but, don't you think it would be weird to play a sport with someone wearing hot pink short shorts? I dunno.... just think about......

Anyway, tennis is fun and I am enjoying it for now.

I, Jenni, am a Sew-a-holic

It's true... I sew. I have always liked to sew. When I was little I remember hand sewing little outfits for some of my stuffed animals. haha... When I was in highschool I would add straps/capsleeves onto my dance dresses (prom, etc). I didn't really know what I was doing, but they usually turned out alright. In college, I took a sewing class one semester and enjoyed it. I never did have my own sewing machine though. On my birthday this last year (December 28th) my parents gave me a sewing machine. So, I've started putting it to use.

Before I went out to Switzerland I made a bunting (a blanket type thing with a zipper on it) for my sister's baby on it's way.

Don't you just love the cute little binky button?

When I got back from Switzerland I decided to try making a little dress for my new niece. It is a 6 month size so she can wear it in the fall. I think it turned out well.

My next project was to make a skirt for myself. I finished that and wore it to church 2 weeks in a row because I'm bored with all my other clothes (apparently I need to make myself some more skirts). I don't have a picture of that yet....

Next I made.... another little dress for my niece!!! Okay, so maybe I'm a little obsessed with making stuff for babies. But, they are just so little and cute!!! And Kahri is so little and cute too: ) This one is a size 1 to 3 months so she'll be able to wear it when she comes out to visit at the end of May!!!

I just love the pink and green.

AND my current project, is.... another little dress.... for my niece... hahaha... but this time, I'm switching to my other niece. My niece Emery who is 2 years old. I'll let you know how it turns out.

OH yeah! And I forgot... A couple weeks ago my little brother Jordan was doing a lip sync at school. He and his friends were doing "ABC" by the Jackson 5. So... I transformed some jeans into "bellbottoms" for them. haha... Yeah, I didn't want to spend days and days making 4 pairs of bellbottoms, so they were by no means perfect... but they got the job done!

Jordan is the one in the blue shirt... he was little Michael Jackson.

The little Jackson Five... minus one.....haha... nice 'fros!

Clouds

Sometimes the clouds seem to stay too long…
pouring down showers and blocking the light.
A seemingly nonexistent sun.
All I see is darkness, rain.
Cold and wet,
my head is cloudy and filled with those same dark billows
that seem to expand,
yet my emptiness weighs me down.
Hazy sky
with innumerable tear drops
trickling,
falling--
Mimicking my own.
Mimicking or mocking?
Momentary breaks in the dull monotony
Offer a glimpse at elusive rays.
Fragile rays that I fear won’t stay long enough to fill me.
But long enough to give me hope...
For a time.
